End of 2011
From Punta Gorda to Oquawka

Christmas Season 2011 starts with the Punta Gorda Garden Club Home Tour on Friday, December 2nd.  Beautiful holiday decorations are created in historic homes.

Later in the day we enjoy dinner and decorations at Isles Yacht Club.

On Saturday we join the Chamber Christmas Parade running from Charlotte High School to downtown.

After the parade we hit a party at John's house, visit Don and Sue on Sunday then back to work at the History Park on Monday.

Thursday is the Lighting of The Fleet and annual meeting on the bar.

The next night President Sherry hosts a Christmas party at Lake Suzy for all of Charlotte Harbor Rotary.  Lots of food, drink and fun; I should have taken more pictures.

Celebrating Nancy Fe's birthday in Saint Petersburg, we stay at the Vanoy Hotel, eat in local restaurants, attend the Rotary Chili Cook-off, watch the Lighted Boat Parade, smoke a cigar, enjoy Christmas decorations, see The Rays Santa, visit the Dale Chihuly Gallery and the Fine Arts Museum.  Should I mention giving a few modest gifts to Nancy Fe?

Ringing the Bell the week before Christmas, we find Rotarians and Friends at the Charlotte Harbor Publix.

On arrival in Oquawka, we find it difficult to climb in the front door because of the leaves piled in front of the house.  Rake and burn.
Glad I rake when I did because by Thursday morning, it was getting chilly.  By Thursday evening we have snow (flurries).

A bustle of activity on Friday gets decorations in place.  Later, Vaan and Nancy Fe receive pre-Christmas gifts to help survive the wintry night.

Lou and Jack host a Christmas Eve celebration.  While a snow-drifting sleigh ride is not likely, a few bales of straw in the back of a red pickup truck do the job.

Christmas Day encompasses a variety of activities, ending in rib roast.

Heading toward home Tuesday, Blanca is along for the ride.  The year ends where all years end, on New Year's Eve.  Pam and Rick help celebrate.
