Not wanting to waste quality time with T.S.A. in airports, Linda and I spend
the following week in California on a Road Trip with Steve and Ann. |
Our first stop out of Alameda on June 21st is Wicky-Up Ranch near Lemon Cove.
The next day we drive under neat rocks and trees at Sequoia National Park,
climb Moro Rock, photograph a bear and hike Crescent Meadow.
Sunday afternoon, we visit Crystal Cave and General Sherman, the world's
largest tree, and spend the night at Wuksachi Lodge.
Monday holds a scenic drive north, visiting Joshua trees and June lake.
After spending the night in Lee Vining we explore the tufa towers at Mono
Lake on Tuesday morning.
The next stop is Bodie, a true ghost town. Once home to 10,000 miners,
gamblers and entrepreneurs after gold was discovered in 1859, Bodie was
deserted by the 1940's. It has been a state historic park since 1961.

We cross Sonora Pass, lunch in Strawberry and visit Jamestown, also known
as Jimtown, then back to Alameda for supper.
